Day two of three - Potty Training Journal

6:05 am - Vinny woke up because his bed was wet. He was not happy!! When I asked what happened, he said "Dad did it!" He is very clingy this morning, and told me that he doesn't want to go on the potty today. I asked if he was a big boy or a baby and he told me a big boy. I explained that big boys go on the potty, and he said "K." We'll see how it goes.
7:34 am - accident - didn't go in potty
9:20 am - walked away and hid and started to go. I swooped him up and he finished on the potty. He then did a dance and ran around the house yelling "I did it, I did it!" It was so cute. I have to get that on video
9:29 am - I walked ou to the room for a second and he had an accident. He started whining and saying "uh oh." That has to be a good sign, right?
11:43 am - Went little, but finished in the potty. He was so proud again. He seems to be getting more bladder control. He isn't going nearly as often as normal.
12:45 pm - Went down for a nap... no diaper on, just his undies
2:25 pm - Woke up from his nap dry! Yay! We went in to go potty, but he didn't need to.
2:41 pm - Had an accident. Put him on the potty, he didn't go anymore, but he kept grunting like he was trying to.
3:30 pm - Went potty on the toilet.
5:30pm - Pooped in the big potty... It didn't even start as an accident. He made a face, I scooped him up and got him there... I never thought I would be so proud of my kid pooping!
7:50 pm - Fell asleep. Is he out for the night? Who knows. It kind of stresses me out because he hasn't gone potty since 5:30, but he has been holding it so well. I will probably wake him up in a bit and try to get him to go again.
9:23 pm - Woke Vinny up and took him potty. He went in the "big boy potty." He then was wide awake and stayed up until 11:30, without an accident.
Day 2 is over... on to day 3!!!

Day one of three.... Potty training journal.

We started today at 7:15. He was so excited to throw his diapers away. We only had 2 of them, so it wasn't very eventful, but he was excited.

7:15 am started.
7:32 am - had already gone through 5 pairs of underwear. He kept going a tiny bit, and then when I put him on the potty he wouldn't go all the way. One time he went a tiny bit, and got a track piece and then just wanted to keep going back for more pieces.
7:48 am - told me that he needed to go (freaked out actually (uh oh MOM!!!!) and went and sat on the potty and went a lot!!! Yay Vinny! Got a bridge for his train.
8:05 am - accident didn't go in the potty
8:16 am - told me he had to go, but put him on the potty and he didn't go... he then asked for a train piece :) He wouldn't put the same underwear back on because he said they were wet, but they were not.
9:23 am - accident - put him on the potty, and he didn't finish
10:20 am - started pooping and brought him in there... he finished in the potty chair. He got a bridge for his train. He was pretty upset that his underwear were poopy.
11:02 am - accident - put him on the potty - didn't finish. Did not want to put underwear back on.
11:08 am - got the underwear back on... but not happy about it.11:15 am - fell asleep - no pull ups.
12:42 pm - woke up and was very upset because he had wet himself. He came and got me and told me '"uh oh" and helped me clean it up. I gave him a track piece for being such a big help and telling me right away
1:19 pm - started in underwear, but I brought him in and he went in the potty chair. He emptied his bladder. He was very proud of himself and got a train.
2:06 pm - told me he had to go, but didn't go when he sat on the potty.
2:08 pm - had accident. Put him on the potty chair, and he didn't go anymore. **Note** Each time that I ask him if his underwear is still dry he says "all dry! High Five!!!" and gives me a high five. It is so funny!
3:34 pm - said he needed to go - didn't go
3:39 pm - accident - finished in potty - got a train track
5:30 pm - accident - didn't finish in potty
7:22 pm - accident - finished in potty - got a train track
7:35 pm - accident - didn't finish in potty
8:20 pm - accident - didn't finish in potty
9:55 pm - finally fell asleep. He wore his big boy underwear to bed. I slept on the floor, and twice when he moved I told him to tell me if he had to go potty. The first time he ignored me. The 2nd time he said "K."
4:30 am he was still dry.

Comments: This is the most frustrating thing I have had to do so far. I keep reading that all of this is normal and that I just need to stick with it, but I am not sure if I can go another two days with him by my side. I really thought that it would have "clicked" already. Hopefully today will be better. Wish us luck!!!

3 day potty training...

So, here is my first post, of I am sure many, about Vinny's potty training. We decided to go with the 3 day potty training method. www.3daypottytraining.com I have heard it is a great program, that actually works, so it is worth a try. Vinny will be home with me all week, so we are really going to have 7 days to work on it before he goes back to daycare.
We talked about it today, and he knows that we are throwing away all of his diapers in the morning, because tomorrow is the day he becomes a big boy.
For "prizes" we are giving him train track pieces for his new train set. We have given him a starter set, and he keeps asking for more, so hopefully it will be good incentive for him for him to try and use the potty as much as possible.
So wish us luck. I will try to update during his nap!

Happy Birthday BBQ!

Instead of going camping this year for the 4th/my birthday this year, we decided to just invite some friends up to the cabin for a BBQ. We had such a good time. Thank you to all of you for making my day so much fun!!!

Here are a few pictures... other people with cameras are sending me more, so I will add them later.

Here is the birthday cake that Dawn made me. Yum!! This is the corn on the cob cupcakes that I made.
Mom, you would be so proud, I did them all by myself!!!
Does that really say "30?" Ahhh!!!!
Yes, we let our boys play with guns... It looks like Cameron is winning here.... Jennie & Sean and Dawn & Kai...
yes, the babies are in the picture too, you just can't see 'em.Brian and Tony enjoying the grub.
Davery and Micah.

Beck, Kai, Brian Vinny and Cameron. Dawn and Alicia. (and Jennie in the background)
Vinny and Cameron.

So, as I was writing this post, I started thinking about my best friends, and of the 5 of us girls, (Jennie, Dawn, Alicia, Rebecka and me) I am the baby... I am the last to turn 30. It is kind of sad... none of us can say we are in our 20's anymore... and then I started thinking of the guys... and with the exception of Brian, all of them are still in their 20's... (Tony, Vinnie, Jason and Ryan) How the hell did that happen????? I was trying to think of the plus side to this, and the only thing I can think of is that on my 60th birthday, if we all go out together, we can all get a senior discount, and they won't be able to.... so there!!! Take that :) So ladies, in 30 years, we have to plan on going out to dinner instead of a BBQ!!!
Also, Beck, now you have to follow in tradition, and marry a younger man... And Jason... it looks like you need to look for an older woman!!! It just wouldn't be right otherwise.

Friday

I spent most of the day at Dawn's helping her with the boys while she made cakes and cupcakes. (I made some cupcakes too!) Then we took Eli home for a couple of hours, so she could finish up. Vinny had asked Dawn "Dawn, Ei Ei go Inny Hows?" How could I resist that?
Here are some pictures of the boys playing.
Vinny wanted to put on his own shoes....

Playing in the garden.
Score!!! A radish!

Wednesday

Wednesday boasted the 2nd lowest tide of the summer, so Dawn and I packed up the boys and took them down to Kayak Point. Of course, it had to rain, but even soaking wet, the boys had a blast!

(you can see the rain drops on my lens!)

Forest Park Petting Zoo....

On Tuesday, I took Vinny to the petting zoo at Forest Park. He wasn't very interested, but here are a few pictures.

Father's Day

We had a BBQ at our house today, My Dad, Chrisana, Dan, Brenda & Kayla, Kara, and Reidar all came over for burgers and dogs. We played some Ladderball, and just enjoyed some time together...

Happy Father's Day!

Big changes....

This week, I lost my job... not my choice, but not a bad thing either... Unemployment line, here I come!!! I wasn't truley happy there anymore, and would never have left on my own, so this will give me a chance to find a job that I really want to do, and will enjoy. We decided to keep Vinny in daycare, for awhile, at least. He really enjoys going there, plus it gives me a chance to take a couple of hours each day getting stuff done around the house, and looking for a new job. Plus, it wouldn't be fair to take him out, and get him used to being home with mom all day, and then putting him back in full time, when I do go back to work.
It has been quite a change... but will be worth it.
I picked Vinny up early one day, and we went on a playdate to Forest Park with Dawn and Eli.

The best thing about not working, is that I finally have a chance to spend more time like this with Vinny. He is growing up so fast, and I have always hated that I worked so much and didn't get to spend more time with him, so here is my chance!

Marysville Strawberry Festival

It's the Strawberry Festival in our town this weekend. We decided to go to the parade last night, and thought we would bring Vinny to the carnival before hand. He had never been tall enough to go on rides before, and we were not sure if he would be able to this time, but he was, and he was soooo excited.

His first ride... He chose the motorcycle to go in. The second ride that he chose was the roller coaster. I really didn't know how this one would go, and thought for sure it would end in tears, but nope, he told me it was "fun!"

Who could go wrong with an orange sparklie quad?
This next ride made me want to tear up... My two year old didn't want me to go on the Super Slide with him. He wanted to do it himself, so, I let him. He grabbed his mat and made his way up the stairs. And, in case you were wondering.... yes, I was freaking out the whole time! With it being this hard to watch him go on a carnival ride slide by himself for the first time, I am not looking forward to his first day of kindergarten!!!
I told him when he got to the top to tell the guy "Help me, please." I wonder if he did.

This face made it well worth it!
He then went on the boat ride.
and the teacups.
He got to go and play games with Dad.

Dad and Jason got to play a few games too.
Then to the parade!
(I took this picture at the parade, I know it isn't a good picture, but you can see his teeth, so I thought I would add it.)
