Daddy & Vinny Day

Since I started working my current job, and having to work Saturdays, Tony and Vinny have started a new tradition. Every couple of months the 2 of them go to the aquarium together. This Saturday when then went it was Hawaiian days. Vinny was given a lei when he went in, and wore it all around.
Tony even took a picture for me :) I sent the camera along, but of course, he left it in the car, but he did take one on his cell, just to make me happy.

Dinner in Mt Vernon

We were invited up to Mt Vernon tonight for dinner and some just good ol' hanging out. We had such a wonderful time. Vinny loved playing with the boys... The grownups enjoyed playing Apples to Apples (I really enjoyed it... I kicked butt!) and we had a yummy dinner. It was such a great night.

Micah, Vinny and Keiler watching TV.
I asked Vinny to take a picture of the grown ups for us... Maybe not the best thought.

So then we tried Keiler... Yeah, not much better.... But at least we did get a pic of us.

The boys played so well together. Vinny loved being able to play with guns. We had to have a little reminder that playing shooting games is only when he is playing with these boys, and not when he is playing at daycare... He had so much fun though, I didn't want to stop him! He kept wearing the helmet so low that he couldn't see. It was pretty cute.
Thanks again you guys for having us up! We'll have to do it again soon! Love ya!

Vinny loves his mascots...

Never matters who it is, as long as he is wearing a big creepy head, he wants to say "Hi." He always tells me to "take a picture, Mom!" Here he is Friday night with the Everett Police Dept dog.

Sugarland!

Wendy and I are going to Sugarland! I am so excited!

I think there is something wrong here.

We had a late night after the hockey game Friday night, and I put him to bed in his clothes, since he was already asleep and didn't want to wake him. This morning I told Vinny to get dressed before he went to the aquarium with his Dad. When I came out of my room, he said that he couldn't button his pants because they were weird. I noticed that the clean underwear that I set out was still sitting there, and so I assumed it was because he forgot to put underwear on... Nope, I was mistaken... He had forgotten to take his dirty pants off! How do you forget that???? He did manage to get the new ones over them though, just not buttoned. I am pretty impressed!

"I just want to look cool when I am sleeping."

A few nights ago when I went in Vinny's room, he was wearing his flames beanie to bed. When I asked him if he was cold, his response was, "No, I just want to look cool when I am sleeping."
Now everynight when I go in to check on him, he has it on...
This is when I told him for the 3rd time that he needed to go to sleep.
And finally asleep.
Vinny, you really do look cool while you are sleeping. Especially while cuddling a pink and purple Eeyore :)
I love my son!

Dance for your dinner

On Friday night, we took Vinny to the hockey game. He usually likes to "Dance for his dinner" so I decided to video it a little this time. Enjoy his cool moves!

Tron

I took Vinny to see Tron tonight. He was so excited and had been asking to see it. So we went. He loved about the first hour of it, and then started getting bored. He thought that the guy looked like Max from Sharkboy and Lavagirl so he kept talking about that. Finally we decided it was time to go. So we missed the last 1/2 hour, but will probably see it when it comes out on video.

Another pic I could add to week 4 of my 52 week project. Sporting our cool 3d glasses.

You are so loving.
You are adorable.

You are so smart.
You are good at the majority of things you try.
You have compassion for people, even though you have no idea what that means.
You obsorb everything you see and do.
You are such a hard worker and try so hard.
You make everyone smile so easily.

You are truley loved and are so special in so many ways that I can't even come close to listing them all.
And yes, you are special because you are good at racing. :)

Please comment on this post with reasons why Vinny is special, so I can share with him later.

52 week project - week 4

So sleepy...

I was heading out to the store, and Vinny had just fallen asleep while laying with his Dad.
This is how I found him when I got home.
 Much better!

My little skeleton...

Those who know Vinny, know that there is no shortage in the amount that he eats. You would never know it by this picture though!

Subway Art

I have recently seen a lot of subway art on Etsy and even one of my online friends made one for her wall. I really really really want one for my wall too. But, as you know, we have a million projects going on at home, so I don't really have the time to put into making one right now. And I have a hard time spending the money on one, when I know I could make it. I decided to try and attempt a little one myself to see if I was even creative enough to make one. I went through all my old scrapbooking stuff, and got out my black letter stickers and white paper. (The opposite colors of what I want, but I don't have many white letter stickers.) I also got out some black paper and white crayons and white pencils, so I could try it that way too... I wasn't really happy with how that one turned out, but here is a pic of it.
Here is the one that I like... It isn't perfect, but at lease I know that I can make one if I try. I plan to frame this one and hang it by the front door. Hopefully it will help me hold off until I get the rest of the projects I need to get done first. :)

Vinny's penpal

Through my mommy's group, Vinny now has a penpal. His name is Logan and he lives in Louisville, Kentucky. His birthday is just a few days before Vinny's, and so far, it seems like they have a lot in common.
Vinny's first letter to Logan was for Logan's 4th birthday. He sent him some cars that he picked out and a card. It was funny because he wrote Happy Birthday Penpal. He is so excited with the idea of having one.

Vinny got his first package from Logan last week. He was so excited. Logan made him a tooth with hearts on it (because of him going to the dentist) and Vinny said that Logan made it because "Logan loves me and is my best friend in the whole wide world." He wanted to bring everything to bed with him, but I was worried he would ruin it, so we compromised and hung everything on the wall by Vinny's bed. So, here is a pic of Vinny's Logane "shrine."

As soon as he was done opening it, he wanted to get started on a picture for Logan. So here is the one he drew.

The next day we decided to finish his letter so we could mail it off... Vinny drew a map to show Logan how to get to his house. Vinny told me what every place was and I wrote it on there. He was trying to show that Logan didn't live far away and he could come over anytime. :) He rolled it up so that it was a treasure map.

Vinny had a lot to say to Logan, so I had him tell me and I wrote it for him. It cracks me up how random his thoughts were.
We also sent a picture of Vinny and a picture of the 3 of us together. I am very excited to watch this "friendship" grow. Hopefully they will be able to meet in real life some day.

Thinking of you...

Missing you.... I can't believe that it has been 3 years since you left us....

Vinny's 4 year appt

Vinny had his 4 year well baby visit today at the dr. I guess it isn't a well baby appointment anymore, is it?
These are the questions they asked:
Can he make it through the night without an accident : yes
Can he pedal a trike for 10 feet: I don't know for sure, but I am sure he can
Can he stack 8 blocks: yes
Can he count to 10: yes (he can count over 100 by himself)
Does he play with others: yes
Does he eat well: yes
Does he show favoritism towards certain things: yes
He also asked how he does away from his parents: he does great.

He weighed 37.4 lbs, which is about the 55th percentile.
He was 40 inches tall, which is about the 50th percentile.
Dr Beard guessed that he would be about 5'10 at age 18. He said that he may go through a growth spurt soon and that would change his guess though.
He said that everything looked great and he seemed like a bright and happy boy.
He mentioned that he thought that he could understand most of what Vinny said and that we should consider that he may not need speech anymore.
He asked if I thought that we would put him in Kindergarten next year, because he is ready, and I told him probably not. He thought that was a very good choice, because boys tend to need that extra year. Even if they don't need it now, they may later, once they get to Jr high. We also discussed private vs. public kindergarten, and he said that he doesn't think it matters, what really matters in the parents' involvement.
Vinny got all 4 of his Kindergarten shots, and won't need anymore until he is 11 (Thank God!)
Over all I think it went very well!

Thank you!

Vinny wants to say Thank you to everyone that helped him celebrate his birthday and make it such a special day!

On Vinny's actual birthday...

We went to Papa & Grandma Hemrich's house. When I asked Vinny what he wanted for dinner for his birthday, he said rice and cupcakes. His favorite rice is rice pilaf that Linda makes, so our plan was made.

Vinny picking out his cupcakes. They all had different sprinkles on them. He gave us the ones with the hearts on them because he loves us. Such a sweetheart.

Make a wish! When I asked him later what he wished for, he said that we would be a happy family. I don't think he gets what a wish is, I think he thinks he is telling what he is happy for. When I asked him if he thought we were a happy family, he said yes. I hope he doesn't go repeating that to other people :/ Imagine what his teacher might think....

Chuck E Cheese

Today Grandma Donna took us to Chuck E Cheese for Vinny's birthday. We had a great time! Thanks for everything mom!

 Best pic ever!

Week 3 of 52 week project

Vinny tried to make it as impossible as he could to get pics with him, but I think they turned out ok!

 Love, Love, Love this one!!!

Vinny's Jungle Playland Birthday Party

We had Vinny's Scooby Doo friend party at Jungle Playland today. We all had a great time. Thank you to everyone who came. Vinny said it was the best day!

 Hiding from the camera.
 Getting so sleepy!
