Vinny's Jungle Playland Birthday Party

We had Vinny's Scooby Doo friend party at Jungle Playland today. We all had a great time. Thank you to everyone who came. Vinny said it was the best day!

 Hiding from the camera.
 Getting so sleepy!

I think there is something wrong with this...

Vinny absolutely loves to have the crayola color changing fizzy things in his bath. They are red, blue and yellow. Today he had several in there, and this is the color of the bath water... how can black bath water make a child clean??? Who knows? But, it makes Vinny happy, so I will still let him have them in his bath :o)

Week 2 of my 52 week project

I wrote about how I am planning on doing a 52 week project where I take at least one pic of Vinny and I each week for a year. Here are a couple from week 2.

Week 1 of 52 week project

If Vinny ever has nightmares of getting attacked by a bear, I am so blaming Lincoln!
OK, Maybe he isn't so scary. Vinny wants to have his picture taken with him at every game we go too. Lincoln is probably sick of seeing him!
My New Year's resolution is to try to get more photos of Vinny and me and of Tony and me, and hopefully of all 3 of us together. My goal is to get at least one a week... We'll see how it goes. Here are my pics for week one.
I just held the camera out in front of me for this shot... not cute. But hey, I tried.
Tony and Vinny. Vinny refused to smile for me....
that is, until Tony looked away.
Just had to post this one too, because I think Tony looks great in it ;)

Getting ready for our visitor.

Vinny's teeth came home from Dr. Lugo's in a little treasure chest, which fit perfect in his tooth fairy pillow.

He wanted to keep in on his dresser with scooby to make sure that the tooth fairy could find it.
I asked Vinny if he still liked Dr Lugo and he said he did. So I asked him when he was going back. He said "Whenever I am supposed to." So I guess the whole experience wasn't too bad.
**Note**
I bought Vinny's tooth fairy pillow on Etsy. It is so cute, and personalized and a very decent price. Check them out at http://www.etsy.com/listing/60510716/tooth-pillow

First of all I would like to say how wonderful Dr Lugo and his staff at Marysville Children's Dentistry are. http://www.marysvillepediatricdentistry.com/ I highly recommended them before today, but now I can't give enough praise. They made a traumatic event for Vinny and us, go super smooth.

We got up early this morning because Vinny's appointment was at 8. While I was brushing his teeth, he started complaining about them hurting, so I decided it was time to tell him what we were doing today. I explained that when we went to see Dr Lugo, that he was going to take them out so we could give them to the tooth fairy so that they won't hurt anymore. He said "ok" and that was it. I asked him what he thought the tooth fairy would bring him and he said "fruit roll ups. Not the ones in the box, but the ones by the bananas." So, I guess the tooth fairy is going to have to stop by the grocery store on her way over.

When we got there, Vinny hoped right up in his chair. He got to watch "How to Train Your Dragon." They gave him his goggles, laughing gas and he just laid there while he waited to go numb. He hardly moved when they gave him the injections or the whole time he laid there. I wanted to check to see if he was still awake since he was so still.

It took about 30 minutes to get him prepared and about 1 minute to actually take the teeth out. He did great. He didn't even make a sound.

He got his popsicle and we were on our way. He was pretty numb and swollen for awhile, but didn't take long to ask for food. He said that it hurts a little bit, but never wanted any tylenol or anything.
He thinks it looks really cool when he looks in the mirror and can't wait for the tooth fairy. I am very proud of what a big boy he was and how well he did. (and am very proud of myself for how well I did :))
That toothless grin will take me some getting used to, but he is still my happy little boy filled with lots of smiles!

The tooth fairy is coming tomorrow night...

It's been a rough couple of years with Vinny's teeth. If you have been following my blog, or my life, you know that he had an accident right after he was 2 on a trampoline. He and Berit were playing on it, and someone jumped up, and it caused Vinny to bounce up into the air, and land with his mouth on her knee (Poor Berit, she was hurting too) Vinny's 2 front teeth were pushed back up into his gums. One was very bad, the other just slightly. We took him to the dentist, and Dr. Lugo decided that we were going to just watch it. As time went on, his tooth grew out a bit, but the 2 next to it started turning very yellow/brown.
We went to the see Dr Lugo every 3 months just to make sure that things didn't get worse. The main concern was that the baby teeth would cause damage to the permanent teeth. In December, we went in and did x-rays and found that 2 of the teeth were starting to implode on themselves. It was time to have them pulled. Once they get to that point, the chance of causing permanent damage is very high, and we don't want to take that risk.

So at 8:00 am tomorrow Vinny is going to have 2 of his front teeth pulled. Not the short one, because even though it is damaged looking, it is healthy. It will be his 2 upper left teeth.

I am devastated. I realize that they are baby teeth and will grow back, but it won't be for a few years. We looked into a "flipper" which would replace those teeth, but he is just too young, and with his speech issues, we don't want to put a foreign object in his mouth. I realize that things could be worse. I do. But I am just so broken hearted about this right now. This is my baby. He is going to be missing teeth for a few years. He also has to go through the traumatic step of going to the dentist and coming out in pain.

Wish us luck tomorrow. I am sure everything will be fine, just different.

Here is a pic from a few months back that you can see his teeth before we take them out.

Only 2 weeks away!

Vinny is having a small friend birthday party with a couple of friends at Jungle Playland for his birthday. I made his invitation and loved how it turned out, so I thought I would share.

It's over.

I can't believe that Christmas is over. After 6 celebrations, spread out over nearly 2 weeks, I was able to enjoy an extended holiday this year :) I just wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful gifts for us and for everyone spoiling Vinny. He didn't get a gift that he wasn't excited for!
I have to admit, I am kind of sad it is over. I always look forward to Christmas so much, and then poof... it's New Years.
We loved spending time with everyone and look forward to getting together again soon!

And the countdown begins...

Christmas at Karen's (Christmas #6)

I didn't get my camera out much but here are a few pics. We had a nice time hanging out with everyone.

Tony and Reidar got to bond over the ping pong table... Tony was very proud that he was the ultimate champion!
